(E) ABC_coop is a platform an for research and documentation of modern architecture and art as social progressive strategy in both English and German language. ABC refers to the famous constructivist magazine edited in Basel in between 1924 and 1928: An attempt by a bunch of architects to link the issue of the formal reshaping of the modern world with the Marxian analytic approach to the relationships among work, production and goods supply. The aim of the blog is both to put the results of our works into display, and to initiate an exchange of informations with other scholars and architecture enthusiasts. Practically it will focus on following issues:

  • Publications of scientific texts, research reports, reviews and multimedia materials.
  • Editing and systematisation of files from architectural archives
  • Guided tours to locations and building ensembles, which are relevant to to the story of Modernism.
  • Survey and historical reports on historical real estate

(D) ABC_coop ist ein Platform zur Erforschung und Dokumentation moderner Architektur und Kunst als progressive gesellschaftliche Strategie, auf English und Deutsch. ABC bezieht sich auf die berühmte 1924 bis 1928 erschienene Baseler Avantgardezeitschrift, in der eine Handvoll von progressiven Architekten zwei Dinge verband: Die  Neugestaltung der modernen Welt mit dem Marxschen analytischen Ansatz zu den Kategorien Arbeit, Produktion und Versorgung. Der Blog soll als öffentliche Bühne unserer Tätigkeit auch zum Austausch mit anderen Forschern und Architekturinteressierten dienen. Im Detail geht es um folgende Stichpunkte:

  • Veröffentlichung von wissenschaftliche Texten, Forschungsberichten, Rezensionen und multimediale Materialien.
  • Aufarbeitung von Nachlässen und Archivalien
  • Führungen zu ausgewählten Schlüsselorten und Baukomplexen der klassischen Moderne
  • Bauforschung , Vermessung und denkmalpflegerische Gutachten über bedeutenden Bauten der europäischen Moderne

CV Simone Hain

Simone Hain ist Kunsthistorikerin und Forscherin mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Planungsgeschichte und Architektur der Moderne. Sie hat in der Tschechoslowakei studiert und über poetischen Funktionalismus und die tschechische Avantgarde der Zwischenkriegszeit  promoviert. Sie arbeitete an der Berliner Humboldt-Universitaet und an der Bauakademie der DDR u.a. mit Kurt Junghanns, Bruno Flierl, Ulrich Reinisch zusammen und gründete die Wissenschaftlichen Sammlungen am IRS in Erkner. International ist sie vor allem als führende Forscherin zu DDR-Themen und ihre gemeinsam mit Hartmut Frank kuratierte Wanderausstellung „Zwei deutsche Architekturen“ bekannt geworden. Sie arbeitete als Hochschulprofessorin und Institutsleiterin in Berlin-Weissensee, Hamburg, Weimar (Gropius-Professur) und in Graz. Gemeinsam mit Andrea Contursi entwickelt sie aktuell die Plattform ABC_coop, die sich mit Desideraten der Moderne-Forschung befasst.
